Universal Music Group and The Rolling Stones present the remastered, expanded, Super-Deluxe edition of their groundbreaking 1978 album, Some Girls, which introduced the band to a whole new generation of fans. In addition to the remastered album on CD and some undiscovered gems recently unearthed from the Rolling Stones vaults by producer Don Was, the Super Deluxe Edition of Some Girls will include a stunning, previously unseen Helmut Newton photo session from 1978, an essay by esteemed author and journalist Anthony DeCurtis putting the album in its cultural context, a 7" vinyl single of "Beast of Burden" b/w "When The Whip Comes Down in its banned sleeve and Ken Regan shots from the era.

Some Girls is the Rolling Stones' most direct and diverse collection of material from Mick Jagger's irresistible falsetto on the four-on-the-floor filler "Miss You, " their eighth U. #1, to the country-flavored "Far Away Eyes" via the Chuck Berry meets punk snarl of Respectable. " And let's not forget the sensuous, "Beast of Burden, one of Keith Richards' finest tunes, which reached #8 on the U.

Singles chart, the garage rocker "Shattered, " the albums' third U. Top 40 entry, and the soulful swagger of the group's version of The Temptations' "Just My Imagination, " another timeless offering in their canon of classic Stones Motown covers.

Some Girls holds a special place in the history of the Rolling Stones and demonstrates why they remain one of the most thrilling and influential bands of all time. The 1978 album features the Keith Richards' classic "Before They Make Me Run, " a signature song he still performs defiantly to this day. Some Girls documented Mick Jagger's love of 1970's funk reflected in "Miss You, " the dance track that wrong footed many people, made the club and black charts, and made it okay for other mainstream acts at the time to'go disco'. The 1978 album also courted controversy because of Jagger's tongue-in-cheek lyrics on the title track, on "Miss You" and on "Respectable, " perceived as a retort to the punk and new wave groups who had borrowed so much attitude and copped so many anti-establishment moves from the Rolling Stones.

Ironically, the furor around the elaborate Some Girls package, designed by Peter Corriston and featuring the band members in drag, a nod in the direction of the picture on the 1966 single Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow? And likenesses of Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Raquel Welch, Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe that hadn't been legally cleared, necessitating a swift withdrawal and rethink. Some Girls demonstrated the distinctive and definitive riffing from Keith Richards, with its abundance of unstoppable licks and majestic power chords driving the band into its brand new musical direction. This album not only defined him and his playing, but also defined a new era for the Rolling Stones, with Richards since described as a sense of renewal. " Some Girls marks the only other time since recording "Satisfaction where Richards used an effects pedal to'elevate' the sound. " He also co-wrote the "Shattered" B-side "Everything Is Turning To Gold.

Some Girls also marked a move to the Pathe Marconi Studios in Paris for the Glimmer Twins production team of Jagger and Richards. These factors helped what is arguably the group's most focused and dynamic album, driven by the sans pareil rhythm section of drummer Charlie Watts and bassist Bill Wyman. Some Girls featured fewer guest musicians than any Rolling Stones album since 1971, but the contributions keyboard-player Ian McLagan, Wood's bandmate in The Faces, saxophone-player Mel Collins, and harmonica player Sugar Blue (discovered busking on the Paris metro), made "Miss You" in particular sound brighter than ever. Thirty-three years on from its original release, the re-mastered expanded, Super Deluxe edition of Some Girls shows exactly why the 1978 album has often been hailed as the equal of Exile On Main Street. The album stands as both a time capsule and a timeless listen and it features the band at their tightest and toughest, at their most vibrant and vital.

SOME GIRLS - now bigger, brighter and better than ever. CD 1 (Some Girls Remastered).

I Love You Too Much. The Rolling Stones Goats Head Soup Super Deluxe Edition Half-Speed Mastered 180g 4LP Box Set. Limited Edition Super Deluxe 180g Vinyl 4LP Box Set!

Half-Speed Mastered At Abbey Road Studios! TAS Rated 3.5/5 Music, 4/5 Sonics in the January 2021 Issue of The Absolute Sound! Another prized jewel in the Rolling Stones' unmatched catalogue is restored to its full glory.

This limited edition Deluxe vinyl box set features the new stereo album mix, sourced from the original session files + Rarities & Alternative mixes including three previously unreleased tracks, "Scarlet", "All The Rage" and "Criss Cross". Mastered at half speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, London. Also included is The Brussels Affair, recorded live at the Forest National Arena in October 1973, and pressed on 180g vinyl. Goats Head Soup was the band's follow-up to Exile On Main St. And contains the songs "Angie", "100 Years Ago" and "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)". Goats Head Soup's best tracks are so good, they not only carry the album, they make it sound like nothing else in the Stones' catalog. Keith Richards called 1974's Goats Head Soup a'marking time' album and fellow guitarist Mick Taylor deemed it'a bit directionless. Fair enough, considering the band had produced a string of four classic studio albums between 1968 and 1972. But Goats Head Soup does have its charms - and it's never sounded better... The real strength of Goats Head Soup isn't rockers like'Silver Train' or'Star Star' but the five ballads - the country-inflected'Coming Down Again,' the hit single'Angie,''Hide Your Love,''Winter,' and the trancelike'Can You Hear the Music. Despite the rock reveries, there's a wistful tone to this album that captures the Stones at a turning point. Not the band's best, but not its worst - those would show up periodically during the next four decades. Greg Cahill, The Absolute Sound, January 2021, Music 3.5/5, Sonics 4/5.

You Can't Always Get What You Want. The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed (50th Anniversary) Hand-Numbered Limited Edition 180g 2LP, 2SACD & 7 Vinyl Box Set. 50th Anniversary Super Deluxe 180g 2LP, 2 SACD & 7 Vinyl Box Set!

Hand-Numbered, Limited Edition Remastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering! LPs & SACDs in Both Stereo & Mono + 7 Single in Mono w/Original Picture Sleeve! Includes 80-Page Book + 3 Hand-Numbered, Replica-Signed Lithographs! Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 32/500! A landmark moment of the 1960s that still resonates profoundly today.

Originally released in 1969, Let It Bleed is regarded by critics and music fans as one of the best and most important rock albums of all time. The groundbreaking and multi-platinum album went to No.

1 in the UK and No. 3 in the US on its first release late in 1969, and features three of the band's greatest songs - "Gimme Shelter", "Midnight Rambler" & the anthemic "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Brian Jones performs on only two tracks: playing the autoharp on "You Got The Silver", and percussion on "Midnight Rambler" - he was replaced by Mick Taylor during the recording, who plays guitar on two tracks - "Country Honk" and "Live With Me", as well as on "Honky Tonk Women" (recorded during the Let It Bleed sessions).

Like Beggars Banquet the year before, the dominant influence was American roots music - drawing heavily from gospel (apparent in "Gimme Shelter" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want"), country music of Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers ("Country Honk"), Chicago blues ("Midnight Rambler") and country rock on the title track. Recording for Let It Bleed began in earnest in February 1969, recorded mainly at Olympic Studios in London and was originally scheduled for release in July 1969. Although "Honky Tonk Women" was released as a single that month, the album itself suffered numerous delays and was eventually released in December 1969, after the band's US tour.

The lyricism found on Let It Bleed is often noted for its violent and cynical undercurrents. Wenner, in a 1995 Rolling Stone interview with Jagger, described the album's songs as "disturbing" the scenery as "ugly" and asked Jagger if the Vietnam War played a role in the album's worldview.

Jagger said: I think so. Even though I was living in America only part time, I was influenced.

All those images were on television. Plus, the spill out onto campuses. The album cover shows a surreal sculpture designed by Robert Brownjohn. The cake was made by then-unknown cookery writer Delia Smith!

The new edition was entirely remastered in both stereo and mono by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering. The set features a reproduction of the 1969 7" mono picture sleeve single "Honky Tonk Women" /'"You Can't Always Get What You Want. That single was first released four months ahead of Let It Bleed, and went to No. 1 on both sides of the Atlantic. "Honky Tonk Women" was reprised on the album with a country flavour as Country Honk.

" Says Ludwig, who has mastered or remastered many other Stones albums: "When we did the first Let It Bleed remaster in 2002, our intention was to pay homage to the original work. When we did this new version, the purpose was to make it as great as it could possibly sound.

If you listen on a good set of speakers or good headphones, you'll hear subtle things in the background that are now much more clear that were somewhat hidden before. No other rock & roll album of the late Sixties so embodied. The contradictions, turbulence of its time, creation and the band.

ABKCO Records releases The Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet (50th Anniversary Edition) on limited edition hybrid Super Audio CD. It comes on the heels of the November 16, 2018 domestic release of Beggars Banquet (50th Anniversary Edition) on limited-edition vinyl, CD and digital formats. The SACD package itself is designed to look like a miniaturized replica of the 12" gatefold double-vinyl edition, sized to be a convenient 7" gatefold, and contain 2 hybrid SACDs, a flexi disc and expanded packaging elements exclusive to this edition.

This bespoke packaging is manufactured in Japan and is of the highest quality to match the SACD audio. Special elements of the package include: replica packshots of two Japanese 7" single picture sleeves ("Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Street Fighting Man) and both versions of the Beggars Banquet sleeve art are included. This SACD set is a Japanese release, imported into North America in a limited quantity. Recorded between March and July of 1968 at Olympic Sound Studios in London, mixed at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, Beggars Banquet was the first Stones album produced by Jimmy Miller, and marks the start of what is considered their most prolific album era. Beggars Banquet has a special place in the history of the band, as it is the final album completed with the original lineup of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Billy Wyman and Charlie Watts.

During the year of release, Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone declared it "the best record they have yet done" and an achievement of significance in both lyrics and music. Each of these hybrid layered discs includes the entire musical content in both Super Audio CD (SACD) as well as standard CD, providing for complete backward and forward hardware compatibility. The discs will play flawlessly on any SACD compatible or standard CD player.

In an SACD player, the laser pick-up automatically reads the SACD layer in Direct Strem Digital (DSD) format, while a standard CD player's laser pick-up will automatically read through the SACD layer to the CD layer in Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) format. Recently remastered by eleven-time Grammy winner Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering Studios, the SACD audio is the exact product of his work, with no loss of fidelity whatsoever. The flexi disc captures a telephone interview between Mick Jagger and a representative of King Records in Tokyo, the distributor of London Records in Japan. The rare artifact's title translated to'Hello, This Is Mick Jagger!

LONDON to TOKYO April 17, 1968 has been restored and reissued on flexi disc with a picture sleeve lovingly restored to look just like the original. The flexi is included in the 50th Anniversary Limited Edition SACD package (as well as vinyl package) worldwide, making it available for the first time outside Japan. " And with no hesitation, he responded "Sideways.

The original intended album cover art for Beggars Banquet was initially rejected both by London Records, the band's U. Label as well as Decca, their UK label. The Michael Vosse photograph of a vandalized restroom wall (Jagger and Richards provided the graffiti, the restroom was inside a Porsche dealership) was deemed offensive, possibly because the top of an open toilet is captured in the shot.

The replacement cover was simply the band name and album title written in the style of a wedding invitation, and remained that way for several years before the intended bathroom photo art finally gained its rightful place on the cover. Beggars Banquet (50th Anniversary Edition) pays tribute to both, as the package will be housed with the Vosse image, with an overwrap of the "inoffensive" wedding RSVP invitation art. Each of these hybrid layered discs includes the entire musical content in both Super Audio CD (SACD) as well as standard CD. Discs will play on any SACD compatible or standard CD player. THE ROLLING STONES EXILE ON MAIN STREET TRANSMISSION BOX SET WITH REMEASTERED 2 LP SET PLUS COLLECTIBLE XL T-SHIRT 2010 OUT OF PRINT BOX SET. Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 7/500!

Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs of All Time - "Tumbling Dice" - Rated 433/500! Newly Re-Mastered from the Original Tapes! Exile on Main Street is regarded as one of the greatest albums in rock'n' roll history and one of the most defining of the Stones' catalogue. Upon its release more than three decades ago, Exile on Main Street innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. "A dirty whirl of blues and boogie, the Rolling Stones' 1972 double LP "was the first grunge record, guitarist Keith Richards crowed proudly last year.

But inside the deliberately dense squall - Richards' and Mick Taylor's dogfight riffing, the lusty jump of the Bill Wyman/Charlie Watts rhythm engine, Mick Jagger's caged-animal bark and burned-soul croon - is the Stones' greatest album and Jagger and Richards' definitive songwriting statement of outlaw pride and dedication to grit. The original 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richard's mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal "Main Street" influenced the album title. These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album's outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the sociopolitical turbulence that marked the late `60s and early `70s. The Stones nixed the influences of a flower-child era and directed their creative process with the edgier, excessive, "more is more" approach of the `70s. Exile reveals a sprawling mix of genres with undertones of blues, country, R&B and gospel mixed with lyrics that fervently demand for release and liberation.

The album pulled together an electric array of talent including Dr. John, the late Billy Preston and pianist Nicky Hopkins. Guitarist Mick Taylor, who replaced Brian Jones in the band shortly before Jones died in 1969, is a magnificent blues player who brought an intensity and elegance to these epic tracks.

At times, these musicians and others lived on the recording studio premises with the band creating an extremely open and creative collaboration for the album. "The album's riveting portrait of artists pushed - by the times, by themselves - to the very limits of their creativity has provided inspiration to every musical generation that has come along since Exile was released in 1972, ". Every song on Exile on Main Street is elevated by its relationship to the music that comes before and after it. The album's irresistible power is unlikely to diminish any time soon.'Rocks Off,''Rip This Joint' and Keith's sardonic'Happy' are truly fearsome - just plain mean...

Tumbling Dice', incidentally, may be the best thing they've ever recorded. With this seemingly accidental masterpiece, the gritty country blues the Stones tested on earlier records is perfected... Exile stands proudly as the most influential album by one of rock'n' roll's most effortlessly innovative bands. Originally titled'Good Time Women'...

Tumbling Dice' had numerous faster incarnations before it was recorded at Richards' villa, Nellcôte. I remember writing the riff upstairs in the very elegant front room,' said Richards,'and we took it downstairs the same evening, and we cut it. Since Bill Wyman wasn't around, Mick Taylor played bass.

All this is housed in a presentation box with hardback book complete with real zipper. Sticky Fingers,' one of the most revered albums in the storied catalog of the legendary Rolling Stones, is set to enthrall a new generation of admirers.

The 1971 classic - which captured the band at the absolute peak of their powers, on timeless tracks such as'Brown Sugar,''Wild Horses,''Bitch,''Sister Morphine' and'Dead Flowers' - is now reissued by Universal Music. Sticky Fingers' was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Stargroves, Mick's country home and Olympic Studios in London and produced by regular confidant Jimmy Miller.

Sticky Fingers' was released shortly after the Stones became exiled in the south of France, leaving Britain after a sensational farewell tour. It also featured some of the most ground breaking artwork in rock history by Andy Warhol with its famous working zip on the front cover. It continued the incredible outpouring of creative energy that had produced 1968's'Beggars Banquet' and'Let It Bleed' in 1969. After'Sticky Fingers,' the Stones' relocation to the south of France led to the double album masterpiece'Exile On Main St.

The highly acclaimed'Sticky Fingers' showcased the ever more inventive song writing of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and formidable guitar licks from Mick Taylor. The first sessions that led to'Sticky Fingers' took place as far back as December 1969, in the remote location of Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Alabama. The band then reconvened, back home in the UK both at Olympic and with the Rolling Stones Mobile parked up at Mick Jagger's Stargroves home. On April 23, 1971, 504 days after that first session in Alabama,'Sticky Fingers' was released, cheered on by media and public alike. "It is the latest beautiful chapter in the continuing story of the greatest rock group in the world, " wrote Rolling Stone.

As the album hit the shops that spring,'Brown Sugar' hit the charts, and by early May,'Sticky Fingers' had become the band's sixth UK #1 LP. Its four-week reign was matched by its performance in the US, and it also raced to the top in Australia, Canada and through much of Europe.

As the aura grew around this essential part of the Stones' epic story, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and became one of their four titles in the top 100 of Rolling Stone's critics' poll of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The welcome reappearance of'Sticky Fingers' will not only restate the pre-eminence of this album landmark, but add even greater distinction to perhaps the greatest catalogue in rock music.

With its offhand mixture of decadence, roots music, and outright malevolence, Sticky Fingers set the tone for the rest of the decade for the Stones. Housed in box with hardback book complete with real zipper. 2014 remastered album plus bonus CD. Bonus CD features previously unreleased alternate takes & live performances.
